hanging at home | lifestyle session, northwest indiana photographer

The Taylors welcomed me into their home for a lifestyle session, and I got to just hang out with them while they made a gingerbread house, read Christmas stories in bed, and played outside in the leaves.  It threatened to rain on us for a few minutes, but they bust out a game of Twister, and the sun came back out!  I can’t say enough about using your own home as the backdrop for your session.  Your children are often more relaxed in their own element, and real memories are made!  I love that Krystal’s grandmother was able to come over for a bit, and I ended my time watching her play London Bridges with her grandchildren.  These are the stories I love to tell and feel so blessed to be a part of ♥

jacob | one year

We tried to sneak Jacob’s one year session in a little before his actual first birthday to catch some of the beautiful fall leaves and beat the cold, but I think we missed it by about a week!  It was so chilly the morning of our session, but Jacob did a great job!  I was so excited that we decided to do their session at their new home, and I know they will be able to look back at these images to see how much Jacob has grown and how their home has grown and changed, too.  I think they will serve as an awesome marker of time at the onset of this new chapter of their life.  It has been a joy for me to watch Jacob turn from cuddly baby into a mover and a shaker, and it thrills me to no end that he always had some smiles for me and let him hold him and love on him.

alaina | 9 months

I really didn’t think Alaina could out-do the cuteness that was her 6 month session, but she amazed me at the end of last month when we met up for her 9 month session!  We went back and forth about locations, trying to find somewhere – anywhere – that had a single leaf left, and don’t you know that the spot we picked was the site of a Boy Scout meet-up?  Hundreds and hundreds of boys and their families, marching all over!  It was pretty chilly, but Alaina was such a trooper and just killed me with all of her faces.  I think we could make an old-school flip book with the images I captured:)

One of these days I’m going to have to hire a second shooter – or maybe even a videographer – to come along and capture Shannon, Adam, and me during their sessions! I can only imagine what we look like…I just don’t think words can do it justice.  If you take a look at some of these pictures, you can get a pretty good look at what we were doing though because I’m pretty sure she was mocking us and making the same faces right back at us!

As always, this family is PURE joy and love.  It is a blessing to me to spend time with families who live in the moment and enjoy the little things.  And there’s no doubt about it – Alaina is one special little girl ♥  Can’t wait to see what she has in store for me at our next session!!!
